Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that he might be open to bringing Andreas Pereira back at Old Trafford after the Brazilian’s loan spell with Flamengo.

The 25-year-old joined the Rubro-Negro on loan during the summer transfer window after enduring a tough couple of seasons with the Red Devils. However, the midfielder is enjoying a productive loan spell with the Brazilian side, scoring three goals and notching up one assist in 11 appearances in all competitions.

Speaking with TNT Sports, the Norwegian boss has said that they are aware of Pereira’s recent display with Flamengo and are delighted with the midfielder’s performance. United’s boss further stated that they wanted to send the 25-year-old on loan since the Red Devils are stacked with attacking talents and it was impossible to provide regular game time to the Brazil international.

So, it was the plan to send the midfielder on loan and let him reestablish his career and regain confidence with regular game-time. He said:

“Yes, we follow. Of course. [Pereira] is a great player and a fantastic person. I’m so happy for him and knowing he’s enjoying this moment. For us, the logic was: Andreas, go and show how good you are. I couldn’t give him enough playing time, and we know the quality he has. When they believe in him, he’s a top-quality player, so I’m happy for him.

“At a certain point in a player’s career, it’s important to have enough playing time at the highest level. Last year Andreas was on loan and didn’t play as much. Last season he played a lot of games with us, soon after we brought Bruno [Fernandes]. I’m happy for Andreas now, and we’ll see him again soon.”

Will it be a good decision from Solskjaer to bring Pereira back to Manchester United?

Andreas Pereira had enough opportunities to showcase his talent in the Premier League for Manchester United. However, the midfielder hasn’t been able to perform consistently to establish himself as a starter for the Red Devils.

So, it will be a wise decision to offload the 25-year-old and generate some cash to strengthen the midfield. The Red Devils are facing issues in the middle of the park for quite a while now, however, the United management haven’t been able to address it yet.

Meanwhile, following a disappointing defeat against Leicester City, Manchester United have earned a great victory against Atalanta in the Champions League. But, the Red Devils’ recent form in the Premier League is a point of concern for the Old Trafford outfit. Solskjaer’s side will have to face a tough few fixtures over the next couple of weeks which will start by welcoming Liverpool on Sunday.
