Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is not willing to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba as per the report in Spanish outlet Sport

The 28-year-old has entered the final year of his current contract with the Red Devils and hasn’t shown any intention of signing the extension that the Premier League giants have offered a few months ago.

According to the report, Barcelona president Joan Laporta and Mino Riola were involved in a meeting regarding potential transfers and Paul Pogba was among the topics of the discussion.

Meanwhile, the Italian super-agent is trying to find the best possible project for his client and is offering the Frenchman to various clubs in order to weigh up the valuation of the world cup winner.

Real Madrid have already backtracked from signing the 28-year-old and now Barcelona boss Xavi has also expressed his reluctance in signing Paul Pogba as the Blaugrana boss believes that the Frenchman will not be suited for his style of football and wants technical players in midfield rather than a physically strong player.

Will Paul Pogba sign a contract extension with Manchester United after Barcelona and Real Madrid’s rejection?

If Paul Pogba decides to sign a contract extension with Manchester United then that will be excellent for the Old Trafford faithful. However, everything will depend on how the Frenchman will perform under the interim boss Ralf Rangnick and what the German decides about the 28-year-old’s future.

The midfielder hasn’t been able to perform at his best since joining the record Premier League champions and if he continues to remain inconsistent then Rangnick might not want to keep an expensive player who can not deliver consistently.

So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 28-year-old. However, the Red Devils desperately need a new defensive midfielder and letting the Frenchman leave in the summer and signing a specialist holding midfielder will be a shrewd business from the Old Trafford hierarchy.
