Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has no interest in succeeding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United as per the report from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano(via TEAMtalk).
The Norwegian manager is under tremendous pressure after producing poor performances over the past few weeks, losing six in the last 12 games in all competitions. Reports were suggesting that the Red Devils hierarchy have made a move to bring Zidane, should they decide to dismiss Solskjaer.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United haven’t made any move in order to sign Zinedine Zidane and the Frenchman is not keen on replacing the Norwegian at this stage of the season.
The journalist further claimed that the former Real Madrid boss might be tempted to join the Old Trafford outfit next summer, given the Frenchman wants to implement his philosophy in his squad and it would be easier to do that with pre-season under the players’ belt.
Meanwhile, the 49-year-old is reportedly waiting for the French National team job if that becomes available in future.
Manchester United wants to persist with Solskjaer until the end of this season as Zinedine Zidane is not interested in the job:
Manchester United have reportedly expressed their desire to keep Solskjaer in charge until the end of this season and they will only make a drastic decision if the Champions League qualification is in jeopardy as per the report from Mirror.
The Red Devils have reportedly identified Brendan Rodgers as one of the options who might succeed the Norwegian if the results slump in the upcoming fixtures. But, it might not be easy to bring the Northern Irishman from Leicester midway through the season.
So, it seems the Norwegian boss is safe for now, despite producing poor performances over the past few games. The Red Devils have already slipped down to the sixth spot in the Premier League and nine points behind the league leader Chelsea where the Old Trafford outfit were thought to make a title charge this term after a successful transfer window.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils fans might have to endure yet another trophyless season this term as they are already out of the Carabao Cup and it is looking highly unlikely at this stage of the season that the Norwegian’s side will challenge for the Premier League or the Champions League title, so the only realistic prize will be to lift the F.A Cup at the end of this season.
